I painted this quite large canvas some time ago on site. When I looked at it later, I felt it needed something more. I tried including a couple of figures but they looked contrived so I put it away again. Eventually, when I found it again amongst my paintings,  I went over the surface using a pallet knife in order to create bolder marks and simpify some areas that had become fiddly. I am much happier with the result. Oil on canvas. 73x60cm.
