This is a painting of one of my favourite spots. I used sketches to record the effect of the sun low over the sea and kept in mind how the light around the sun partially obscured the headland. The outer edges of the halo of light had an orange tinge. Such light effects change very fast and it was soon dark so I painted the picture at home. I tried to take a reference photo but my phone camera couldn't cope with the contrast so was no real help. Oil on canvas.
