This is a large painting using pallet knife and vigorous brush strokes, painted after I came back from a walk. It is based partly on memory and partly on a reference photograph because the evening light changes so fast. The low sunlight over the headland made the grass glow and the shadows were purple. It shows a view from the coast path between Langland Bay and Caswell Bay where the rock has slipped or been eroded and a low arch has appeared. I added the figure for scale but it would be most unwise to stand there, it is pretty steep. Acrylic on canvas.
