Mumbles Pier

Mumbles Pier

I went back three times to finish this painting of Mumbles Pier and the old and new lifeboat stations. Unusually for this area, the light was much the same each time. I can generally only paint somewhere for 2 hours or so before the light has changed too much to carry on. This proved to be quite a complex subject to capture. I am quite pleased with the sense of early evening light. When the sun is quite low in the sky it casts a warm glow over everything. Oil on canvas.
