Llewellyn Park, Morriston is a large and varied park. I painted this as part of a series on the parks and gardens of Swansea. I was aiming to capture something of the character of each one and I chose this location which has both a view across to terraced houses on the hill opposite (very Swansea) and part of the avenue of trees which contributes something special to Llewellyn Park. I added the figures later. I wanted to show how the park provides for so many recreational activities. I also wanted to add some painterly touches and add texture so I used hatching strokes across much of it. I forgot to photograph it properly when I had finished so I am afraid the main image is an enlargement of a general view from the Oct 2022 exhibition and so it is rather fuzzy. An interim stage is below.
